Cambodia Proudly Places 2nd in Triathlon

KEP: Cambodia exceeded expectations by winning two gold medals at the triathlon in Kep on May 9, 2023.

The first SEA Games triathlon to be held in the Kingdom of Cambodia ended smoothly with Secretary General of the Triathlon Federation, Ngin Sokpanha, emphasizing that the event’s results exceeded expectations. He said, "Cambodia was projected to take home one gold as the home team for the triathlon organized in Kep. After all was said and done, the Cambodian triathlon team won two gold medals and one silver medal. This is a win that surpasses our expectations and brings great pride to our nation.”

He also praised the overall organization of the event which required the combined efforts of the Kep Provincial Authority and the International Triathlon Federation to arrange the right space and provide hospitality and technical support so that the competition ran smoothly and produced great results. "All the participating countries are happy that we have organized [the event]. This is a great thing for our country as today all the triathlon delegates will return home with good memories of Cambodia,” he said, “As hosts, we have done our best."

In terms of triathlon results, the Philippines placed 1st with three gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal. Host-country Cambodia ranked 2nd with two gold and one silver; Indonesia came in third with one gold, two silver and three bronze; 4th place went to Vietnam with one gold, two silver and one bronze followed by Thailand with one silver medal, Singapore with two bronze and Malaysia leaving empty-handed.
